About HowMany.wiki
HowMany.wiki is a reference library of measurement answers — a collection of calculators and conversion charts, not a collaboratively edited wiki. It answers practical questions such as how many grams are in a cup of a given ingredient, or how to convert between units of volume, weight, length and temperature, using a fixed, transparent method rather than user-submitted content.
Who runs it
HowMany.wiki is built and maintained by Adilson Fernandes, an electronics engineer who has been developing free online conversion tools since 2014 as the creator of CoolConversion.com. HowMany.wiki has been online since 2016 and is operated as part of the same effort — a focused companion to CoolConversion dedicated to cooking, recipe and everyday measurement conversions.
How the numbers are calculated
Volume-to-weight and weight-to-volume results are density-based: each ingredient uses a reference density (primarily the FAO/INFOODS density database, cross-checked in July 2026 against USDA FoodData Central, complemented by published reference values), and unit conversions use standard defined factors. Results show the calculated value (3 significant figures) plus, where useful, the nearest measurable kitchen amount — cups, tablespoons, sticks. For cooking, use the measurable amount; the precise figure is there so you can check the math. Figures are provided as-is; for anything critical, confirm against a primary source.
